Another Nickel in the Machine

On a brighter note, if you haven't already stumbled across Another Nickel in the Machine do check it out.

The blog is a collection of yesteryear stories of London and Rob Baker, the man behind it, is a very local resident.

Rob has been working away from London for a while so the blog went quiet for a while but thankfully he's back and so are the stories, the latest of which is a rather sad story about a 1927 scandal involving a dancer called Bobby Britt and the Empire Theatre.

Other stories on Rob's blog include this Vauxhall-centric piece about singer Julie Driscoll whose 1969 album Streetnoise featured a song entitled "Vauxhall To Lambeth Bridge", the Angry Brigade's bombing of Tintagel House in 1971 and Jeffrey Archer's penthouse flat.
