Yet another stab at developing the troublesome Texaco site on Albert Embankment

 From Building Design magazine:
Foxtons founder has hired architect Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners to design a luxury residential and mixed-use tower on the Albert Embankment in south London.
Ocubis, which is managing the project on behalf of Foxtons founder Jon Hunt, has asked RSHP to carry out a feasibility study ahead of any planning application in partnership with Lambeth Council and the local community.
The site, which is situated north of the Vauxhall, Nine Elms, Battersea Opportunity Area and is currently a Texaco garage, has had five previous planning applications turned down by Lambeth Council in the last decade. Previous rejected applications include a 31-storey tower in 2003, two further attempts by the former Texaco owner in 2005 and 2006, and 23-storey residential scheme by Make in 2008.
One of the towers that would be adversely affected by the new development is the converted Peninsula Heights office building, whose penthouse apartment is owned by Lord Archer.
A spokesman for Hunt said: “Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners have been asked to carry out a feasibility study with a view to submitting a planning application at some stage in the future.
“This will be done in partnership with the London Borough of Lambeth and the local community to decide on the best way to reinvigorate this part of the Albert Embankment.”
Hunt, who purchased the site along with a number of other investors for £7 million, is reported to be looking at previous plans to make sure the new scheme gets the green light. Criticism of previous submissions included an unacceptable loss of daylight, and lack of employment space.
