Latest on Lidl: company confirms plans for 3rd October opening

Apologies for any confusion arising from the previous post but the good new for you Lidl fans is that your wait is almost over.

The company sent me the following press release today:

Construction works for a new Lidl store on Clapham Road, Stockwell, are nearing completion in time for its planned opening on 3rd October 2013.
The 2817sqm site was first purchased in July 2004 with construction works beginning in April 2012. In addition to the new 850sqm Lidl store, the development will also comprise of 65 residential units over four floors above the store and at least 20 customer parking spaces.
Property Director Chris Young-Wootton says, “Lidl is very excited about bringing a store to Stockwell. With a limited offering of food retailers in the immediate surrounding area, Lidl is proud to provide a new shopping facility for the residents of Stockwell. This new store will also create between 20 and 30 part-time and full-time jobs, which is positive news in the current economic climate.”
