Christina nominated for Local Hero award

Congratulations to South Lambeth resident Christina Burnett who is a finalist in the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain awards.

Christina is the dynamo who drives numerous local initiatives such as the monthly Digital Bazaar at Tate South Lambeth Library in which local people help out others by sharing their skills with the internet, mobile phones, computers and cameras.

Christina has been nominated for the ITV Local Hero award which seeks to honour "a special person who works tirelessly in their community". The nomination particularly recognises her work with visually impaired people at the Digital Tuesdays sessions at the library and her work with the residents of Castle House:
Christina dedicates her time to helping elderly and vulnerable people in Lambeth enrich their lives by getting to grips with modern technology. Christina Burnett is behind 'Digital Tuesdays' at the South Lambeth library. Across the road elderly residents from a sheltered housing scheme also get to grips with laptops and filming equipment. Christina wants to show people how modern technology can make a difference.
It was the residents from Castle House who nominated Christina (and without her knowledge!).

ITV News London featured a segment about Christina's work last night. You can view it here. Apparently South Lambeth is in Kennington.
