I may not have been up to reading Lambeth's FORTY-TWO PAGE DRAFT licensing policy but when it came to the documentation for the licensing review of Premier Food and Wine (139 South Lambeth Road), I couldn't put it down. What a page turner! I devoured every last word.
It's got it all: selling alcohol to under-age drinkers, food for sale past its use-by date, an absconded failed asylum seeker, duty-diverted scotch, un-maintained fire extinguishers and a table leg under the counter.
Three of Trading Standards' under-age agents having successfully bought alcohol there, Lambeth is now gunning to have the premises licence revoked under its three-strikes-and-you're-out policy.
The last date for representations on the licence review is 8th October 2013.

Oh dear, how fascinating. Now I like these guys they are friendly and sell lovely Polish Syrups and are very reasonably priced and the parking is excellent. Now who can blame them for having a table leg behind the counter, is a gentleman no longer allowed to protect self and property with rapier or a well turned lions foot. An as for the urchins of South Lambeth I dare say they have been buying alcohol for as long as there has been a South Lambeth and all that soot from the chimneys makes it very difficult to discern their age espcially when fully grown men leave their tiny little BMX bicycles blocking the doorway of said establishment. I mean what is one to do when one need some duty free medicinal whisky at short notice.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is Mr Reid if you knew any of your so called soot smudged urchins they would be able to tell you what has really been going on in that establishment for many years. The man-from-the-council's report doesn't even skim the furthermost tip of the iceberg but it's a welcome start.
