It's an ill wind that blows nobody any good. Lambeth's planning committee decided last week to remove the requirement for Tesco to keep Streatham Ice Rink open while redeveloping its Streatham site.
It's a long, long saga (see this piece in the Evening Standard for a summary) and an unpopular decision on Lambeth's part but for those of us at the other end of the borough it does mean we will be able to go ice-skating rather more conveniently for three years: the new, temporary rink will be on the site of the condemned Pope's Road multi-storey car park.
