Last chance to object Octave Tower

You can't please everyone but it does seem that the developers and architects behind the proposed Octave Tower have pretty well managed to unite local public opinion in displeasure.

This proposed 42 storey building on the site of the current (and rather beautiful) Victorian warehouse on Bondway will cast a shadow into Vauxhall Park. Unlike the other tall buildings on the cards for Vauxhall it is very wide as well as tall.

As the Vauxhall Civic Society explains: "The man who holds the decision in his hands is Eric Pickles, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, who will rule on Octave any time between now and the end of February.

"NOW is the time to (politely, please) email Mr Pickles, his officials and the politicians he may listen to.

"The message? Bad headlines lay ahead in a ‘Yes’ to Octave Tower, because this monolith’s just too big for this tiny corner of Vauxhall."

Full information on how to make your voice heard is on the VCS website here.

Update: To help you visualise the impact of the tower, here is the shadow it will cast over Vauxhall Park at 8pm on midsummer evening. See the full impact report here.
