"One Tower Won't Save Vauxhall"

Viva Vauxhall spotted this major feature article in yesterday's Evening Standard: "One Tower Won't Save Vauxhall" which makes for interesting reading. The gist is that Vauxhall is one big ol' mess and will continue to be so until the planners develop some balls.

They also found this about what is now called the Octave Tower. Interestingly "a spokeswoman for Transport for London said [...] TfL was actively considering a Northern Line extension to the power station, and was discussing funding with Treasury Holdings."

  1. Spotted that too - bought a "Free 10p standard" at waterloo, interesting angle on things. Does anyone know whats happened to the St George tower or the Sky Garden proposal on Wandsworth Road?

  2. Yes - the St George Tower is still to be built but has permission from John Prescott (Lambeth refused this one); and the Sky Gardens were given permission by Lambeth but again building has not yet started.
We understand that St George will not start building this until they have finished Aquarius House - the new block currently under construction opposite the bus station.
