Tradescant Road in 1912

Just found this picture on Landmark Lambeth of Tradescant Road in 1912.

I wasn't sure if the picture was looking down the the north or the south tine of Tradescant Road from South Lambeth Road but judging by the spire (which I presume belongs to the original St Stephen's Church) it's the South Tine.

Nice gas lamps (but only two of them) but I'm surprised to see there are no trees. I always imagined that trees were planted as part of the scheme, but presumably not.

Doesn't it look lovely without cars and wheelie bins?

    Hi Dave, great work!
I think that picture is mirrored (by the hand written text in the corner)
This means that houses 1-19 are shown, I guess. There is little wall shown just before house nr.1 which still exists.

My granddad and great grandparents lived in 53 Tradescant Road in 1911.

Is that house still there do you know?

  4. It sure is still there.

Unless they have renumbered at some point, this is it:
