Thanks to reader Matt for drawing attention to the "Welcome to Stockwell" sign that appeared a few months ago and caused consternation (well, the odd quizzical look) among South Lambeth residents who - let's face it - if we can't live in South Lambeth would probably prefer to live in Vauxhall.
Not that it matters, but why they have to rub our noses in it but putting this sign up opposite the Tate Library I don't know.
Anyway, thanks for Matt who managed to dig out this map of the Stockwell ward which kinds of explains why the sign is where it is, if not why it is there at all.
Well South Lambeth refers to the entire area of Kennington, Oval, Vauxhall and Stockwell. Stockwell ward doesn't quite accurately reflect all of Stockwell if you read Who Moved Stockwell...
