Now if only there were a power station in Battersea...

At the Tory conference last week Wandsworth council leader Ravi Govindia said Nine Elms would face a power issue once construction begins on the Northern Line extension.

Estates Gazette reports him saying London was not only facing a housing crisis but an infrastructure crisis:

"We have spent years securing the £1bn TIF to fund the Tube extension, but only recently it was discovered there is insufficient power capacity in the area once the diggers arrive," he said.
"Once they start digging for the Northern Line, someone could find their toaster stops working."
Govindia said it highlighted that, alongside housing, the capital is facing water, gas and electricity issues as its population continues to rise.
The Wandsworth council leader also said it was a false notion and slightly xenophobic not to allow foreigners to buy flats in Nine Elms, where 16,000 new homes are being built.
"We could not say to the Malaysians to open their cheque book to buy the power station and then not allow the sale of homes to overseas buyers afterwards," he said.
