How To Dance The Lambeth Walk

With the Christmas party season upon us it's a pound to a penny that as a Lambeth resident you'll be called upon to take part in the Lambeth Walk at some point.

So here, courtesy of the back page of some sheet music I picked up on eBay, are the instructions.

You might take it with a pinch of salt. I'm no muso, but I'm sure when they say "3rd beat" they mean "4th beat".

The Lambeth Walk was written for the 1937 musical Me And My Girl which was a huge hit. The song was adopted as something of an anthem during the second world war.

And here's how it sounded in the 1980s revival, here performed at the Tony Awards by Robert Lindsay and company.
