Battersea Power Station plans approved; Northern Line extension closer

The reality of a Northern Line extension to Battersea Power Station with a new tube stop at Nine Elms has taken a step closer to reality.

Wandsworth Council has given its consent to plans for the redevelopment of the Grade II* listed building and its site by REO.

As part of the planning agreement the developer will contribute more than £200m towards a two station extension of the Northern Line from Kennington as part of the planning agreement.

The total cost of the extension is estimated at £663 million.

The total cost of the development is £4.4 BILLION!

The developers say that the iconic chimneys will have to be demolished and rebuilt as they are not salvageable.

Let's hope they do rebuild them.
