Summer fete season kicks off this weekend

There's lots of non-World Cup activit going on locally this weekend so Transport For London have helpfully decided not to run any Northern Line trains south of Kennington.

On the plus side, the weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday is "sunny" so you can cycle everywhere.

Saturday

3pm-6pm Albert Square Summer Fair. This year the art competition will be judged by Frances Morris – Head of Collections at the TATE Modern. There are two categories - under 9s and over 9s. I fall into the latter category.

9.30am-3.30pm Kennington Gardens Society Show

Sunday

12:30am-4pm Cleaver Square Fete (rather posh, I seem to recall)

11am-5pm Portugal Day, Kennington Park (Isn't every day Portugal Day? Ed.)

All weekend

Open Garden Squares Weekend (worth doing although there's not much to see in Lambeth)
