"Cycle Superhighway" to Run Through South Lambeth

I just happened upon this plan to create cycle routes into central LondonOne of the first, opening summer 2010, will run up Clapham Road, past The Oval and across Southwark Bridge.  A later addition will cross Vauxhall Bridge into Westminster.  According the the web page,
Cycle Superhighways will provide you with safe, fast, direct routes into central London from outer London. The first two routes will open in Summer 2010 with ten more being introduced later.
This all fits into Boris Johnson's evil masterplan to disadvantage South London by "bringing about a London cycling revolution".  Oh, wait, really it just sounds like a nice idea to make the roads more cycle-friendly.

Unfortunately, it's really just a plan to paint cycle lanes down the road. Granted, a continuous lane all the way into London is long overdue, but I remain to be convinced if some extra paint on the road will bring a huge benefit, as opposed to developing a greater level of segregation.

Blue painted road instead of red painted road. Such a improvement worth all the money! I guess this is kind of substitute for cancelled Tram.
