If you haven't dropped in to the newly reopened Wheatsheaf (126 South Lambeth Road, London, SW8 1RB) yet then do.
It does great food including lovely Sunday roasts and - almost uniquely for the area - there is no TV blaring out sports. In fact there is no TV at all. Hoorah!
The acoustics are a bit harsh but the service is great and it's really friendly.
I hope it succeeds.

I like the Wheatcheaf and I am glad that is back.
ReplyDeleteThe Royal Albert use to be good couple of years ago but changed a lot for worse in my opinion. I don't know..
The Canton Arms is fine except the fact that you can avoid those large screens with sport all day long.
(as anywhere else in our football obsessed area)
The new Wheatsheaf has a fabulous burger, too! I love all the youth and energy that has gone into three of the main pubs on (and near) this part of South Lambeth Road recently - the Canton Arms, the Vauxhall Griffin (best Bloody Mary in town) and now the Wheatsheaf have really made it fun to hang around home these days.
ReplyDeleteThe Wheatsheaf is perhaps the most handsome of the local pubs and after its recent update, has never looked better
ReplyDeleteIt's good to have a landlord who takes a personal interest in running the place and greeting customers. Great fish & chips. Support this pub!
