I went to the National Theatre last night to see Roger Moore being interviewed by Emma Forbes. He turned out to be a good-humoured, self-deprecating interviewee who was happy to churn out marvellous anecdotes until the cows came home (6.45, as it happens).
Anyway, the surprise for me was that RM turns out to be a very local boy.
Stockwell News has done some research and identified the following local history nuggets which I shamelessly reproduce here:
- Roger was born in Jeffreys Road
- He lived for a bit in Aldebert Terrace
- He moved to 4 Albert Square
- He went to Hackford Road Elementary (Durand Primary)
- He moved to 14 Albert Square
...and he is celebrated in the memorial Gardens:
